Functional Safety Engineer Mobile Cranes (m/f/x)

Your mission

  • Functional safety concept development: Design and implement functional safety concepts and architectures for mobile cranes and their subsystems in compliance with ISO 13849, IEC 61508, and applicable machinery regulations
  • Safety requirements across the lifecycle: Analyze, define, and track safety-related requirements throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from concept phase to series release
  • Hazard and risk analysis: Perform hazard and risk assessments, including HARA (where applicable), FMEA, and FTA, with a focus on crane-specific safety functions
  • Definition of safety goals: Derive safety goals, technical safety requirements, and safety functions in close cooperation with system, software, and hardware engineering teams
  • Documentation & certification: Create and maintain functional safety documentation and actively support certification, conformity assessment, and approval processes for mobile cranes
  • International collaboration: Work closely with international development teams, especially in China, and coordinate with external partners, suppliers, and certification bodies
  • Knowledge sharing: Provide internal training and technical support to colleagues on functional safety topics, standards, and best practices
  • Validation & testing: Participate in prototype and field testing, verifying and validating safety-related functions with a focus on functional safety

Your profile

  • Completed technical degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable field
  • Several years of experience in functional safety for mobile machinery, commercial vehicles, or automotive applications
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (especially ISO 13849 and IEC 61508; ISO 26262 is a plus)
  • Practical experience with safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, and hazard and risk assessments
  • Experience with safety evaluations, audits, and collaboration with certification authorities
  • Structured, independent working style with a high sense of responsibility
  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken; German skills are an advantage
  • Willingness to travel internationally
